A NEW THING AS OF OLD examines the often-quoted words of Ecclesiastes 1:9, “there is no new thing under the sun,” and challenges the fatalism that can arise when this Scripture is read outside the wider testimony of the Bible.

Through an expository, Scripture-interprets-Scripture approach, author shows that while the patterns of human existence recur, God is not restricted to yesterday’s methods or to the limits of what we have previously known or experienced. What is new to us need never be new to God.

Drawing lessons from Joshua, Hezekiah, the Prophets and the New Testament, the book presents the past as leverage for faith rather than a ceiling over it. It calls believers to retain the knowledge of God, remain open to His ways, pray beyond the boundaries of present knowledge, and rise in faith to do exploits.
